Imperial palaces of Ming and Qing dynasties in China The imperial Palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties of China, formerly known as the Forbidden City, is located at the center of the central axis of Beijing. The Palace Museum in Beijing is centered on three main halls. It covers an area of 720,000 square meters, with a construction area of about 150,000 square meters.
